RRC is the Recipe Recitation Contest. At each gourmet meeting we explain what we brought and how we made it. This is a short prepared speech in table topic times (one to two minutes). Because of the tight time constraints this is an exercise in being concise, clear and informative. It's important to let people who have food restrictions know what is in the dishes, it is also useful if people want to be able to make it themselves (so we often handout the recipe or email it to the members.)
To encourage people to put effort into preparing to present the recipe we arranged a contest. The timing would be like a table topic (must speak at least one minute and less than two minutes thirty seconds to qualify), after announcing who was disqualified on time we held a secret ballot. People were instructed to vote based on conciseness, clarity and informativeness. All memebrs present were eligible to compete and to vote.

This is a hand painted, one of a kind, signed by the artist, mug. It's unique because, first of all, it's hand painted, so another one wouldn't be identical. But also because the artist is a friend and won't be making any copies. (This is the advantage of having an artist for a friend and being able to impose slightly, like asking for a custom design or sending it back for slight adjustments.)
As a prize it is functional, attractive, and designed to prick the curiousity of those who see. The winner can leave it where people will see it and ask what an RRC is (or what CCAT is) and the winner can describe toastmasters and what we do at CCAT Gourmet. I asked for a caption that was informative (awarded to the winner) but cryptic enough that people would ask what it means.
The artist's other creations are at Dragon Kingdoms.
